Synthesis of Mitomycins


Mitomycin C 1 i s one o f the most useful antitumor antibiotics which exhibits activity against several solid tumors and is tised
clinically over a wide As part of our research in this area, we have found a new class of mitomycin family, i.e.,
mitomycin
G 2, H 3, and K 4 from the fermentation broth of mitomycins. These novel mitomycins have exo-methylene double bond at the 9th and 10th positions. The f i r s t report4 describing the derivation of mitomycin G 2 from mitomycin B 5 via mitomycin H 3 left insufficiency concerning the yield for the practical usage. We herein repcrl; tiie improved synthesis o f mitomycin G 2 from mitomycin B 5.
